When initially considering development plans, FHRA determined that the Harrison Village Commissary and Post Exchange would best suit the new Lawrence Village at the Fort if moved to a site on the Fort Harrison U.S. Army Reserve Enclave.
In September 2005, the FHRA, the United States Army, the Defense Commissary Agency, and the Army Air Force Exchange Service completed an agreement that enabled the relocation of the Commissary and Post Exchange to 59th Street.
In March 2006, the FHRA broke ground on the construction of the New Commissary and Exchange at Historic Fort Harrison.
Grand opening of the New Commissary/Exchange is anticipated in May 2007.
